Heavy monsoon rains and flooding in Pakistan have resulted in at least 107 deaths, 344 injuries, and damage to hundreds of homes since the start of the season in June, officials reported on Sunday, July 27th, 2026. The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) stated that more than half of the fatalities were due to house or roof collapses.

The province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa recorded the highest number of deaths at 55, followed by Punjab with 36. In Lahore, Punjab's capital and Pakistan's second-largest city, authorities have established at least 17 flood relief camps to shelter evacuated residents, according to the Dawn newspaper.

Punjab’s Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif announced on X that emergency responders have been deployed across the province, with teams actively working to drain floodwaters. The Pakistan Meteorological Department indicated that no flood-generating activity is expected until Tuesday, July 29th, but a fresh wet spell is likely to begin Wednesday, July 30th, affecting upper catchments of major rivers in Islamabad, upper Punjab, Pakistan-administered Kashmir, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Gilgit-Baltistan.

Authorities have warned residents to remain vigilant as the monsoon season in Punjab typically lasts until September, with more rain anticipated in the coming weeks.
