On Wednesday, August 5th, 2026, Russia launched a series of ballistic missile and drone strikes targeting Kyiv and its surrounding areas, resulting in the death of one woman and injuring at least 12 others, according to Kyiv's military administration.
Timur Tkachenko, head of Kyiv's military administration, stated that the "enemy is once again massively attacking the Kyiv region," hitting residential buildings and warehouses. He added that the consequences of the attacks are being recorded in the Bucha, Brovary, and Fastiv districts. Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko expressed concerns that people might be trapped under rubble following strikes in the city center.
The assault came amid intensified attacks on Kyiv in recent weeks, with air raid alerts lasting over an hour as waves of ballistic missiles struck the city and outskirts. Authorities urged residents to heed air raid sirens and take care of themselves and their families.
These strikes follow Ukraine's increased attacks on Russian civilian infrastructure, including power facilities. In related incidents, five people were killed and 10 wounded in the Moscow region on Tuesday morning during strikes on Wildberries warehouses. The day before, Russian officials reported seven deaths and 58 injuries from a drone attack on a busy beach in the southern Krasnodar region.
