Missile and drone strikes targeting locations far from the front lines have resulted in a rising civilian death toll in both Russia and Ukraine.

According to local officials, long-range attacks have killed at least five people in Russia and four in Ukraine. Regional Governor Andrei Vorobyov reported that a Ukrainian drone struck a warehouse in the Moscow region, killing five people and injuring 10. This attack was one of three overnight strikes on warehouses across Russia.

E-commerce giant Wildberries confirmed that a blaze broke out after one of its warehouses near St Petersburg was attacked. Another warehouse in the Tver region, northwest of Moscow, was also struck by drones.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated on Monday, August 3rd, 2026, his intention to pressure Russian President Vladimir Putin to end the conflict before winter.

In the Russian-occupied Crimean Peninsula, Moscow-installed Governor Mikhail Razvozhayev said a soldier was arrested after allegedly going on a rampage, killing a colleague and three civilians. Following this incident, all 22 crew members involved were evacuated, as reported by Turkiye’s maritime authority late on Monday, August 3rd, 2026.

At least 27 people have been killed as Russia and Ukraine continue to exchange heavy attacks.
