With the midterm elections just 90 days away, House Democrats are broadening their focus on Republican-held congressional districts they believe are vulnerable this fall. The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC), the political arm of House Democrats, announced on Wednesday, August 5th, 2026, the addition of 12 new GOP-held districts to its "Districts in Play" list, raising the total number of targeted Republican seats to 58.

Among the newly targeted districts are those held by Rep. Lauren Boebert of Colorado, who won her 2024 race by just over 11 points, and Rep. Richard Hudson of North Carolina, the chair of the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC), who secured his seat by more than 18 points two years ago. Other notable targets include French Hill of Arkansas, chair of the House Financial Services Committee, who won by just under 18 points in 2024, and Rep. Victoria Spartz of Indiana, who won her last race by nearly 19 points.

DCCC Chair Rep. emphasized, "House Democrats are expanding the battlefield deep into Trump terrain because we have a winning message focused on fighting for an Affordable America."

At the same time, the NRCC is focusing on 36 districts, having added seven to its target list two weeks prior. The expanded lists from both parties indicate where significant campaign spending and efforts may be concentrated as they vie for control of the House.

The political landscape remains competitive, with Democrats accusing some MAGA Republicans of letting down their constituents, while Republicans criticize vulnerable Democrats for defending an unpopular record and a radical socialist agenda.
