Christopher Mark Jordan, a man from Scottsdale, Tasmania, is scheduled to stand trial on April 19, 2027, accused of murdering 14-year-old Shyanne-Lee Tatnell. Jordan, who has pleaded not guilty, appeared via video link from Risdon Prison at the Supreme Court in Launceston on August 4, 2026.
Justice Michael Brett announced the trial date, noting it comes almost four years after Tatnell, a teenager from Burnie, went missing while staying at a youth hostel in Launceston. Following an extensive search, her remains were discovered nearly three months later off a dirt track at Nabowla, northeast of Launceston.
The trial is expected to last five weeks and will be presided over by Justice Brett. A further directions hearing to discuss pre-trial matters is set for November 27, 2026.
