A Russian missile attack struck Ukraine’s capital, Kyiv, early on Saturday, August 1st, 2026, killing at least three people and injuring 15 others, according to Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko. The attack triggered more than a dozen explosions that reverberated across the city, witnesses told the Reuters news agency.

Residents were trapped in damaged buildings in the Shevchenkivskyi and Solomyanskyi districts. Fires and damage were also reported in other districts, including burning warehouses in Darnytskyi and debris falling on buildings in Holosiivskyi. Among the injured were two boys aged 13 and 17, with one person reported in serious condition.

The incident comes amid ongoing hostilities between Russia and Ukraine, with casualties reported on both sides. On the diplomatic front, Poland has protested to the Russian ambassador over missile incursions.

Separately, on Friday, US President Donald Trump stated that talks were ongoing regarding military support to Ukraine, but Washington had not yet agreed to a proposal to provide certain licenses, emphasizing caution about "letting somebody build them," despite earlier indications of approval.
