Some air passengers remained stranded at Hong Kong International Airport on Monday, July 27th, 2026, following the departure of Typhoon Noul from the city. Authorities expected normal airport operations to resume by Monday morning.

Typhoon Noul triggered Hong Kong's first No 8 and No 9 storm signals of the year over the weekend, leading to the cancellation of about 400 flights. Although all typhoon warnings were dropped on Sunday evening, some travelers reported their flights were pushed back to Monday evening.

According to the airport website as of 12:45 pm on Monday, 12 departing flights initially scheduled for Sunday had been rescheduled to Monday, including three flights due to depart between 5 pm and 11:15 pm. The website also showed that eight departure and eight arrival flights scheduled for Monday were cancelled, including seven departure flights originally slated for take-off between midnight and 1:05 am.

On Monday morning, the South China Morning Post observed orderly queues at check-in counters, but dozens of stranded travelers were waiting overnight on benches as airlines worked to clear backlogs caused by delayed flights.

Among those affected was Xing Tai from Beijing, who said her Saturday flight home had been cancelled, leaving her stranded at the airport for a full day.
