The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC), the campaign arm for House Democrats, announced on Wednesday, August 5th, 2026, that it is adding 12 more Republican-held and leaning seats to its offensive target list for the 2026 election cycle. This expansion includes districts held by Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.) and Rep. Richard Hudson (R-N.C.), who is also chair of the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC), the GOP's campaign arm.

With these additions, the DCCC's total number of offensive target seats rises to 58. Nearly all of these districts have been rated as Solid Republican by the Cook Political Report, a nonpartisan election handicapper. Notably, President Trump won all 12 newly added districts by double digits in the 2024 election, although some have seen strong Democratic performances in previous cycles.

DCCC Chair Suzan DelBene stated, “House Democrats are expanding the battlefield deep into Trump terrain because we have a winning message focused on fighting for an Affordable America. At the same time, MAGA Republicans who historically have considered themselves ‘safe’ have let down the people they were elected to represent, passing disastrous policies that are crushing working families and our communities. Democrats are going to win in November and make Hakeem Jeffries the next Speaker of the House.”

In Colorado, the DCCC targets Boebert, who moved districts last cycle to a safer GOP seat after narrowly winning reelection in 2022. In North Carolina’s 9th District, held by Hudson, Trump won by 16 points in 2024. However, Democrats are optimistic about their nominee, veteran Richard Ojeda, who previously outperformed Hillary Clinton by 20 points in a 2018 West Virginia congressional race.

Conversely, the NRCC has identified 36 Democratic-held seats as targets, highlighting that 23 Democrats are running in districts Trump won in 2024, while only 8 Republicans hold seats won by former Vice President Kamala Harris.
