On Monday evening, August 3rd, 2026, NSW Police responded to reports of a person with a firearm at the Entertainment Quarter in Sydney's Moore Park. Officers swarmed the area following the alert, leading to the arrest of two people in connection with the incident involving a fake gun.

Police confirmed that both individuals were taken into custody and that there was no ongoing threat to public safety. A witness dining nearby described the situation as "terrifying," noting uncertainty about whether the object was a real pistol or part of a costume. The witness and a friend called police after the man, initially seen with the fake gun, left and then returned close to their location outside a store.

Another bystander reported seeing about 15 to 20 police vehicles rush to the scene. The police intervention concluded with the man being restrained on the ground without further incident.
