Vincent Pastore, a veteran actor renowned for portraying mobsters and tough guys, has died at the age of 80. He was best known for his 30-episode role as Salvatore “Big Pussy” Bonpensiero on the acclaimed television series "The Sopranos," where his character was a close friend of Tony Soprano who later became an FBI informant.

Bob McGowan, Pastore's manager since his time on "The Sopranos," informed The Associated Press that he learned of Pastore's death on Saturday, August 1st, 2026, from fellow actor Vincent Curatola. Pastore was found in his home on New York’s City Island after not being heard from for several days. McGowan had been trying to contact him about a potential job opportunity.

McGowan described Pastore as "the most loyal client" who "always gave to charity" and was "the kind of guy who would help anybody, which is rare in my business."

Michael Imperioli, a longtime friend and collaborator, shared on Instagram that it felt as though he had known Pastore forever. He remembered him as a "kind-hearted brother who cared deeply about his family and friends" and noted the many laughs they shared.

Before his acting career, Pastore enlisted in the Navy during the Vietnam War and later attended Pace University, according to his IMDb biography.
