A tourist plane crashed outside the city of Nazca in southern Peru on Saturday afternoon, August 1, 2026, killing 13 people on board, according to Peruvian officials. The aircraft, carrying 11 passengers and two crew members, had taken off from Pisco Airport, the Peru National Police said.

The crash occurred around 12:55 p.m. local time in a field near the Pan-American Highway South, which crosses the Peruvian desert near Nazca. The city of Nazca is renowned for the Nazca Lines, ancient geoglyphs etched into the earth's surface, recognized by UNESCO.

Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
