James Mulhern III, an employee at Walter Johnson High School in Montgomery County, Maryland, is facing additional criminal charges after investigators uncovered new evidence in a voyeurism case.
The investigation began on April 7, 2026, when two students discovered a hidden video camera in the control booth of the school's theater. One student reviewed the memory card and found videos recorded inside the girls' changing room, prompting school administrators to be alerted.
Authorities said the footage showed an adult male placing the camera inside the room before leaving. Newly recovered videos dating back to 2015 led investigators to identify a total of 12 female students in various stages of undress, expanding the case from the four victims initially identified when Mulhern was first charged in April.
Mulhern now faces 12 counts of abuse of a minor. Montgomery County State's Attorney John McCarthy stated that the newly uncovered evidence heightened prosecutors' concerns in the case.
