At least four people, including several children, have been killed and dozens injured in Israeli attacks across the Gaza Strip despite an ongoing ceasefire, according to Gaza’s Ministry of Health. Hospitals received six bodies and 34 injured individuals in the past 24 hours, which include four new deaths, one person who died from previous injuries, and one body recovered.
The attacks occurred as Hamas officials met with mediators from Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey in Cairo to discuss the implementation of the second phase of the ceasefire with Israel, which has been in effect for nearly 10 months. A Hamas official told Reuters that the group would deliver a “positive and good” response but provided no further details.
Reporting from Gaza City, Al Jazeera’s Hind Khoudary described the aftermath of a separate attack on Wednesday evening in Gaza City’s Shati refugee camp as “terrifying,” noting that around 35 families were terrified by the massive explosions.
These strikes represent a violation of the ceasefire agreement intended to end ongoing hostilities. Amnesty International has also raised concerns about international arms sales to Israel, citing risks of complicity in the Gaza conflict.
