At least five Palestinians were killed in attacks across the Gaza Strip on Thursday, July 16th, 2026, as Israel continued to violate an October ceasefire agreement on a near-daily basis. Palestinian health officials reported multiple aerial and artillery strikes, including an Israeli air strike near the northern Tuffah neighborhood of Gaza City that killed two people. Additionally, a bombing of a tent encampment housing displaced Palestinians in western Gaza City resulted in one death and several injuries.

Among the casualties was a family comprising a father, mother, and daughter killed in an Israeli attack on their home. Palestinians in Gaza have also been searching through homes destroyed by Israeli strikes amid the ongoing violence.

The humanitarian situation remains dire due to Israeli restrictions on the amount of aid entering the enclave, further exacerbating the crisis and violating the ceasefire terms.

Jibril Khattab, who lost a relative during the truce, described the cessation of hostilities as an “illusion” in an interview with Reuters. Meanwhile, Israel’s international reputation has suffered significant damage during Prime Minister Netanyahu’s tenure amid mounting allegations of war crimes in Gaza, Lebanon, and Iran.

Protests have taken place in Paris and Gaza calling for the release of Hussam Abu Safia, reflecting broader regional tensions.

Since the October agreement, more than 1,100 Palestinians have been killed in attacks violating the ceasefire.
