German police reported that a 21-year-old man with a history of Islamist extremist activity was shot dead on Sunday, July 27, 2026. This followed an incident the previous evening, Saturday, July 26, 2026, when the suspect allegedly drove a minivan into a crowd near Berlin's Pride celebrations, killing one person.
The attack occurred around 10 pm in Tiergarten park, close to the Brandenburg Gate and near the site of Christopher Street Day, one of Europe's largest annual LGBTQ events.
Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the attack and the suspect's motives.
