Talk show host Bill Maher mocked liberals on Monday, July 21, 2026, for continuing to obsess over President Donald Trump’s surface-level antics and personality, which he said do not significantly impact people’s lives.

During a discussion on his "Club Random" podcast with British comedian Jack Whitehall, Maher humorously showcased a framed list of nearly 60 insults Trump had directed at him. Maher revealed he brought this list to the White House and had Trump sign it during their dinner meeting in March 2025.

Maher also addressed the recent controversy surrounding the Mark Twain Prize at the Kennedy Center. He said, "I didn't think it was ever going to happen," referring to receiving the award. Maher noted that Trump initially tried to stop the award but later it proceeded. When Trump’s name was removed from the Kennedy Center building, Maher said Trump covered the building in drapery to hide the removal, adding, "I'm not kidding."

Reflecting on the Kennedy Center incident, Maher said he did not anticipate Trump’s reaction but found it unsurprising in retrospect. He emphasized that while it is important to criticize Trump’s actions while in office, obsessing over his personality after ten years is unnecessary, stating, "If, at this point, ten years into the Trump situation, you are still obsessing about his personality, my view is that's on you."

Maher concluded that such antics are to be expected and are only worth attention if they have real effects on people.
