The government-appointed administrator of Hong Kong’s Wang Fuk Court, the site of the city’s deadliest fire in decades, will hold an extraordinary general meeting (EGM) with flat owners on July 19, 2026. The meeting aims to resolve ongoing management issues following the blaze that killed 168 people and displaced nearly 5,000 residents.
Hop On Management Company, which oversees the estate, announced it will host the EGM simultaneously via live broadcast across four community centres located in Tai Po, Tin Shui Wai, Kai Tak, and Wah Kwai in the Southern district. This arrangement is intended to accommodate owners currently residing in different districts and facilitate their attendance.
Agenda items for the meeting include updates on the handover process from former incorporated owners, the status of Wang Chi House—the only residential block spared by the fire—the initiation of refunds from the major repair fund, and the financial position of the estate and its major renovation project. The administrator emphasized that these agenda items were finalized with consideration for the common interests of owners and the management of the estate’s common areas.
This meeting marks a significant step toward addressing the aftermath of the tragic fire and the ongoing administration of Wang Fuk Court.
