Interior Secretary Doug Burgum spoke live from the Great American State Fair in Washington, emphasizing the Trump administration’s efforts to revitalize the nation’s capital ahead of the United States’ 250th Independence Day anniversary.

Burgum defended President Donald Trump’s infrastructure initiatives in Washington, D.C., citing accomplishments such as 510 graffiti removals, restoration of historic monuments, statues, and fountains, and reductions in crime. He framed these efforts as a demonstration that "American greatness is built through action."

Addressing recent vandalism at the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool on June 22, Burgum noted ongoing restoration work, including a $14.7 million investment to restore the pool, $250 million allocated to restore the Kennedy Center, and over $400 million projected for the construction of a ballroom at the White House.

He stated, "Nations don't crumble by fate — they decline by choice," underscoring the administration’s commitment to reversing decline and rebuilding what he called the "Golden Age of America," "one landmark, one street and one victory at a time."

Burgum’s remarks also referenced the upcoming July 4th opening of the Teddy Roosevelt Presidential Library. His comments come amid criticism questioning the value of the administration’s renovation and construction spending in Washington, D.C.

Additionally, images captured by Getty Images and AFP show Burgum’s engagement in international meetings and local efforts such as dismantling homeless encampments in the Foggy Bottom neighborhood.
