Cellphone footage captured by witness Lane Koehn, 34, shows the citizen firing his handgun at the assailant during the chaos in Twin Falls.
Koehn, stopped at a nearby traffic light, told the AP he watched a man carrying an AR-style rifle step out of the drive-thru before a second man opened fire on him with a pistol.
The shooter squeezed off at least three or four rounds, Koehn said.
