"The View" co-host Ana Navarro appeared to disagree with Hunter Biden, son of former President Joe Biden, after he accused President Donald Trump of being a dictator during a podcast on Monday, August 26, 2026.
In the second half of a two-part interview on "Bleep! with Ana Navarro," Hunter Biden stated that the United States has "already" lost democracy under Trump, regardless of the outcome of the midterm elections. He cited ongoing confirmation hearings for Trump's personal attorney as attorney general and alleged Trump’s use of presidential power to jail or attempt to jail journalists.
Navarro, however, argued that while President Trump "would like" to be a dictator, she stopped short of agreeing that he already is one. This stance contrasts with some of her past comments, including a speech at the 2024 Democratic National Convention where she compared Trump to several communist dictators. Additionally, as recently as May 2026, Navarro described Trump on "The View" as a "wannabe dictator" or having "small dictator energy," following the installation of a golden statue of Trump at Trump National Doral golf course.
The discussion highlights differing perspectives on the state of American democracy and Trump's political influence.
