SANTA CLARA, Calif. — The NFL is currently reviewing whether San Francisco 49ers owner Jed York will face disciplinary action for violating the league's personal conduct policy. This follows York's arrest in Ohio during a prostitution sting operation.

York was apprehended by the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force in a mobile home park after attempting to pay $160 for sex with a woman he believed to be a prostitute. He was booked into jail and released on a $5,000 bond.

Initially charged with engaging in prostitution, prosecutors later amended the charge to disorderly conduct. York pleaded no contest to this charge and to possessing criminal tools related to using his phone to respond to an undercover online prostitution advertisement. The $160 seized from York was subsequently given to the human trafficking task force as part of the plea agreement.

According to court records, York had filed for divorce from his wife, Danielle, in May 2026.

At the NFL owners’ meetings in Atlanta, Commissioner Roger Goodell stated, “It’s being reviewed under the personal conduct policy. We’ll do that and when there’s something to be reported we’ll talk.”

The league has precedent in similar cases: the late Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay was suspended for six games and fined $500,000 after a guilty plea to driving while impaired in 2014. Meanwhile, New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft was investigated but not punished after a 2019 arrest in Florida for allegedly paying for sex at a massage parlor.
