Newly obtained 911 calls have shed light on the deadly shooting that occurred at Seattle’s Bite of Seattle festival near the Space Needle. Dispatchers reported six confirmed gunshot wounds and multiple people down at the scene. One caller, who said they had been shot in the back, told a dispatcher, "I’m losing blood," but did not know who opened fire. The dispatcher worked to keep the wounded person calm while emergency help was sent to their location near a water fountain.

Emergency crews initially treated the area as an active scene, ensuring it was safe for responders to enter. Former Seattle Police Chief Shon Barnes stated that investigators believe gunfire was exchanged outside the Armory following a conflict between small groups, leaving bystanders caught in the crossfire.

Police officers maintained a watchful presence after the mass shooting on July 26, 2026. Seattle Mayor Katie Wilson and Police Chief Shon Barnes attended a vigil for the victims on July 27, 2026, at Seattle Center.

Fox 13 Seattle reported that interim Police Chief Andre Sayles said earlier in August that investigators had developed new information and expected to make an arrest, though he declined to provide further details.

The investigation continues as authorities work to piece together the events that led to the shooting and identify those responsible.
