A State Department memo obtained by Fox News Digital reveals that the United States has designated an Italy-based technology collective, Autistici/Inventati (A/I Collective), as a global terrorist entity. The group is accused of providing encrypted communication services to overseas terrorist organizations, including Hamas and Hezbollah, as well as violent far-left agitators such as Antifa cells active in American cities.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated, "Far-left terrorism poses a profound threat to the United States and the broader West." He added, "Today, the United States sanctioned Autistici/Inventati – a major far-left tech collective whose services are used by the most active and violent Antifa cells in the United States and across the world."
The A/I Collective offers sophisticated digital infrastructure including encrypted chats and email, web hosting, secure video conferencing, streaming, and anonymity shields. The memo also identifies a far-left extremist media group that uses A/I Collective's services to disseminate official communiqués and calls to action for U.S.-designated foreign terrorist organizations.
Rubio emphasized, "There will be no refuge for violent extremists who wage war on our civilization and plot to undermine law and order, destroy critical infrastructure, assault political opponents, or conspire to conceal their crimes from authorities." He further stated, "We will use all the tools and authorities at our disposal to fight terrorism and protect our way of life from terrorist coercion."
The State Department also noted that the far-left group Vulkangruppe, which has targeted German infrastructure since 2011 and claimed responsibility for a January attack that disrupted power to roughly 45,000 Berlin households, similarly relied on these encrypted services.
The revelations come amid ongoing concerns about domestic and international terrorism, highlighting the intersection of far-left extremist groups and foreign terrorist organizations.
