In celebration of National Dog Day on August 26, 2026, Sarah Goldberger, New York-based founder and CEO of the organic dog treat company Lord Jameson, emphasized the need to include pets in the Make America Healthy Again (MAHA) initiative. MAHA, a federal initiative launched in February 2025, promotes whole, nutrient-dense foods while encouraging reductions in refined carbohydrates, added sugars, and artificial additives.

Goldberger told Fox News Digital, "We have never used anything artificial," explaining that all colors in their treats come from real fruits and vegetables. She started Lord Jameson in 2019, inspired by her late dog Jameson, after identifying a gap in the market for healthier dog treats. Surveying over 1,000 pet parents, she found many dogs suffer allergies or sensitivities to animal proteins, preservatives, and food colorings.

Despite avoiding preservatives, Lord Jameson's treats have an 18-month shelf life, which Goldberger described as "very difficult to achieve in production" and a key selling point. The brand is also "completely vertically integrated," with manufacturing, kitchen, warehouse, and fulfillment operations based in Boulder, Colorado.

Goldberger expressed hope that her brand can inspire other pet companies to make better choices that positively impact dogs' health and wellness. She also noted working with a homeopathic veterinarian to incorporate plant-based medicine, herbs, and botanicals in their wellness products to support dogs during healing periods.

The MAHA movement continues to push for healthier food choices, although cheap, healthy food remains rejected by many Americans.
