Hasan Piker, a left-wing Twitch streamer, has sparked controversy with recent remarks about American Jews and their support for Israel. During a stream, Piker stated, "If Jews in America keep putting this idea out there that they are singularly invested in Israel, eventually someone is going to come around and take action, not against the state of Israel, mind you, but against American Jews."

Following the backlash, Piker blamed the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) for the criticism, writing on X, "AIPAC boss call was made. they are unanimous in their hatred of me, and i welcome their hatred. if you’re a defender of israel’s genocide, of its occupation, of its child killing spree — then your boos mean nothing to me."

Several Democratic lawmakers have publicly condemned Piker's remarks. House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries called the claim that American Jews were "inviting violence against themselves" both "dangerous and antisemitic." Senator Cory Booker also criticized Piker's comments about Jewish Americans.

Jewish community advocate Rosen described Piker's remarks as a "new low," accusing him of "trafficking in antisemitic tropes for a while" and said that by blaming Jewish Americans for the violence and hate they face, Piker "provided an excuse to those perpetuating these anti-Jewish hate crimes."

Josh Gottheimer, a Democratic congressman from New Jersey, condemned antisemitic rhetoric and warned it could incite violence. Meanwhile, Michigan Democratic Senate nominee Abdul El-Sayed was noted as a candidate who had embraced Piker during his campaign.

The controversy highlights divisions within the Democratic Party regarding discourse on Israel and American Jewish communities.
