A former Texas schoolteacher, Holly Adams, was arrested on Tuesday, August 26, 2026, amid allegations of inappropriate relationships with male students. Adams taught at Angleton High School near Houston and is charged with one count of tampering with evidence and two counts of purchasing or furnishing alcohol to a minor, according to the Brazoria County Sheriff's Office.

The investigation began after a student reported to school staff that Adams was involved in an inappropriate relationship with a former student, KTRK-TV reported. The student told officials that over the summer, the victim FaceTime-called him from a bedroom in Adams' house, where the bed was reportedly covered in nude photos of her. Another image showed Adams and the former student cuddling.

Adams allegedly invited students to her home to perform chores and admitted to communicating with three members of the school baseball team on Snapchat. She was taken to the Brazoria County Detention Center and released the same day on a $26,000 bond.

Gail Saltz, MD, Clinical Associate Professor of Psychiatry at Weill Cornell Medical College, commented on the psychological aspects of such cases, stating, "Many female teachers who sexually abuse male students sometimes convince themselves that the relationship is legitimate. They're more likely to be psychologically both grooming their victim, but also what's called self grooming. They are convincing themselves that what they are doing is having an intimate, romantic relationship that is benefiting the victim as well."

Saltz further noted the impact on victims: "It is easily as damaging in terms of, you've been abused by an adult. And that adult took advantage of your trust. That violated boundaries that you weren't ready for." Adams no longer works for the school.
