Residents of Georgia's 13th Congressional District have elected Everton Blair Jr. to serve out the remaining months of the late Rep. David Scott's term, according to a projection from The Associated Press.

Blair defeated Marcye Scott, daughter of the late congressman, in the special election held on Tuesday, August 25, 2026. Blair, who previously chaired the Gwinnett County School Board, had finished second to David Scott in the July 28 nonpartisan special election.

Blair will serve only until January 2027, the end of Scott's final term, as he placed third in the May 19 Democratic primary for the full two-year term. The November election will determine whether Democratic state Rep. Jasmine Clark or Republican Jonathan Chavez will represent the district starting in January.

Georgia's 13th District has historically favored Democratic candidates. David Scott won re-election in 2024 with about 72% of the vote, and then-Vice President Kamala Harris received approximately 71% of the vote in the district.
