Michael Alter, owner of the Chicago Sky, announced on Tuesday, August 26th, 2026, that former NBA player Enes Kanter Freedom has been banned from Wintrust Arena. The ban follows a verbal altercation on Sunday, August 24th, during a game between the Chicago Sky and the Indiana Fever involving Kanter Freedom and guard Natasha Cloud.

The confrontation occurred in the third quarter after Cloud scored and the Fever called a timeout. Cloud directed her energy toward Kanter Freedom, who was seated near the basket. Security subsequently removed Kanter Freedom from the arena.

Alter stated, as reported by ESPN, “He has demonstrated to us, unequivocally, that he has the potential to be a threat.” However, it remains unclear how this determination was made.

The ruling was disclosed by Alter during an address to beat writers. This incident adds to recent developments involving former NBA players declaring for the WNBA draft, with Kanter Freedom and Royce White previously ruled ineligible.
