SYDNEY — Growing opposition from local communities where data centers are planned is one of the biggest obstacles to their development in Australia and beyond, according to Robin Khuda, founder and CEO of AirTrunk, one of the region's largest data center developers and operators.

Speaking at the Nikkei Asia Forum in Sydney on Wednesday, Khuda emphasized that the Australian government needs to establish clear rules to address these challenges and facilitate the rollout of data centers.

The backlash reflects broader concerns about the impact of data centers on local environments and infrastructure, underscoring the importance of regulatory clarity to balance development with community interests.
