Carla Z. Gordon, director of library services at the library, stated that these books are shelved among over 2,500 other board books and are kept "central and easily accessible" to make them easy to find.

This confirmation came after The Cougar Chronicle, a conservative news outlet affiliated with BYU, posted a photo of "Pride Is Love" with a caption alleging that the library's children's section promotes "radical gender theory, critical race theory, and other progressive propaganda to Provo's children."

Gordon pushed back on claims that the book was on display, emphasizing that the books are part of the library's general collection for small children. Another book mentioned, "My Two Dads and Me," is also intended for babies through age three and depicts everyday routines of LGBTQ fathers and their children.

The discussion around LGBTQ-themed children's books in public institutions continues to be a topic of debate, as similar books have faced challenges in public schools, such as those displayed at the annual Pride Town Hall at Walter Johnson High School in Bethesda, Maryland.
