Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s family has made a substantial investment in Bloom Energy, an energy company positioned to benefit from the growing electricity demands of the artificial intelligence industry, according to a congressional financial disclosure filed in August 2026.
Paul Pelosi, Nancy Pelosi’s husband, purchased 15,000 shares and 200 call options of Bloom Energy through accounts he owns. The disclosure details a July 24 purchase of 10,000 shares valued between $1 million and $5 million, along with 100 call options in the same value range. Additionally, on July 28, Paul Pelosi acquired another 5,000 shares valued between $500,000 and $1 million and 100 more call options valued between $1 million and $5 million, as reported by Barron’s.
Bloom Energy, based in San Jose, California, manufactures fuel-cell systems that provide on-site electricity to data centers and other facilities with high power needs. The company stated that an initial 1.2 gigawatts of capacity is already being deployed across Oracle projects in the United States.
Nancy Pelosi’s office responded to the disclosures by stating, “Speaker Pelosi does not own any stocks and has no knowledge or subsequent involvement in any transactions.” Pelosi, who is not seeking reelection after 39 years in Congress, had opposed banning members of Congress from trading stocks in 2021 but later supported restrictions on trades by elected officials and their families.
In 2025, two Missouri Republicans introduced a bill named after Pelosi aimed at prohibiting members of Congress and their spouses from making stock trades. Pelosi emphasized the need for "strong transparency, robust accountability and tough enforcement for financial conduct in office because the American people deserve confidence that their elected leaders are serving the public interest — not their personal portfolios."
