Three people, including two Chinese citizens, died in a fire on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at a petrochemical site in Russia’s far eastern Amur region, the company announced. The fire occurred at the Amur Gas Chemical Complex, a remote facility jointly operated by Russia’s Sibur and the China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation (Sinopec).

More than 100 others were wounded in the blaze. According to the company, 24 people were hospitalized with varying degrees of injuries, while 122 others sustained light injuries that did not require hospitalization.

Amur GKhK confirmed the deaths of two Chinese citizens and one Russian citizen in a statement. The company added that search and rescue operations are ongoing, with emergency services working to extinguish the main fire and conduct controlled burning of residual industrial gas.

The fire broke out in an auxiliary technical area of the facility, and the main installations of the complex were not damaged.
