A Florida man, Raul Lionel Vazquez, 26, has been charged with second-degree murder following the fatal shooting of 56-year-old Daryl Alexander Hill in Apopka, a town northwest of Orlando. The incident occurred at 8:27 a.m. on Tuesday, August 12, 2026, when sheriff's deputies found Hill lying face down with a gunshot wound at an intersection, according to an arrest affidavit obtained by Fox News Digital.

Hill, who intervened in a roadside fight between a man and a woman after a car crash, was rushed to the hospital but pronounced dead at 9:20 a.m. He leaves behind a wife and a 10-year-old daughter. A GoFundMe page described Hill as having "a contagious personality, an incredible sense of humor, and a way of bringing laughter and joy to the people around him."

The Orange County Sheriff's Office reported that Vazquez, who was already out on bond for a separate aggravated assault case involving a deadly weapon, allegedly shot Hill. The affidavit noted that Hill "was fighting him and getting the better of him" during the altercation.

This case highlights ongoing concerns about violence in public disputes and the risks faced by bystanders who intervene.
