Senator Dave McCormick (R-Pa.) publicly praised his colleague Senator John Fetterman (D-Pa.) on Sunday, August 9, 2026, for his willingness to "call out the craziness" within the Democratic Party. Speaking on "The Cats Roundtable" with host John Catsimatidis on WABC 770 AM, McCormick expressed respect for Fetterman, noting that his defense of his positions and party has made him popular among many Pennsylvanians.

McCormick emphasized that Fetterman votes as a Democrat 93 to 95 percent of the time but stands out by confronting what McCormick described as a "huge swing to the radical left" in the party. He accused the Democratic Party of embracing policies that are anti-military, anti-law enforcement, antisemitic, and anti-American. McCormick pointed to Michigan Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed, who recently won a primary against a mainstream Democratic representative, as an example of this shift causing division within the party.

Highlighting Pennsylvania as distinct, McCormick said, "That’s not the case in Pennsylvania, particularly with John Fetterman."

Fetterman has faced criticism from progressives for his strong support of Israel amid shifting U.S. public opinion following Israel's military campaign against Hamas in the Gaza Strip. Fetterman stated, "If our party ever becomes — and just makes it official — the anti-Israel party, that’s when I would leave because that’s been a moral clarity for me."
