TOKYO — Bain Capital, a U.S.-based investment firm, has decided to purchase the Taiwan-originated tea chain Gong Cha, according to Nikkei Asia on Wednesday, August 5, 2026. The acquisition involves buying shares from the American private equity company TA Associates and other stakeholders for over $635 million.
Gong Cha is renowned for its bubble tea and currently operates more than 2,000 stores across approximately 30 countries and regions worldwide. The company aims to expand its store network further in East Asia and the U.S.
