In her first interview since the birth of her fourth child, Usha Vance, wife of Vice President JD Vance, spoke candidly about the joys and challenges of motherhood. Speaking from the Vice President's Residence on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, she described the experience of having four children as "really lovely so far."
The couple announced the birth of their son, Alec Neel Vance, on July 20 via Instagram, revealing he was born on the morning of Sunday, July 19. Usha shared that both she and the baby are happy and healthy, and their older children are excited to welcome their new brother, often helping during diaper and clothes changes.
Despite anticipating some challenges ahead, she said, "I'm sure there are going to be hiccups here and there! But for right now, they seem to be really thriving."
Alongside her family life, Usha is encouraging children in kindergarten through eighth grade to participate in the White House Summer Reading Challenge by reading 12 books before the end of August.
