TOKYO — Japan's Ministry of Defense has issued a warning about the increasing military cooperation between Russia and North Korea, stating that this alliance could significantly bolster Pyongyang's military capabilities and elevate security threats across Asia.

The caution comes as part of the "Defense of Japan 2026" white paper, introduced by Defense Minister Shinjiro Koizumi. The report also notes that the ongoing war in Ukraine has contributed to strengthening North Korea's position, while expressing concern over deeper ties between Beijing and Moscow.
