A federal appeals court has reversed course and once again blocked the Trump administration from rescinding billions of dollars in climate funds issued under President Biden’s Inflation Reduction Act (IRA).

On August 4, 2026, the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals reinstated part of a previous preliminary injunction that temporarily bars the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) from clawing back billions in green energy funds. This decision prevents the Trump administration from reversing key funding initiatives aimed at combating climate change.
