At least 600 buildings have been destroyed by wildfires in the US state of Washington, where 15 active fires continue to burn. One of these fires tore through Spokane, the state's second-largest city, devastating entire neighborhoods. This summer's fire season has been particularly severe due to a combination of unfavorable weather conditions, resulting in over 1,000 square kilometers of land burned across the state.

The scale and intensity of the wildfires have posed significant challenges for firefighting efforts and local communities.
