On Monday, August 3rd, 2026, Norway's Sigrid Haugset of the Uno-X Mobility team won stage three of the Tour de France Femmes, seizing the overall lead and the yellow jersey from Dutch rider Lorena Wiebes. The 156.6km stage took place in the Jura region, running between Geneva and Poligny.
Haugset launched a gutsy solo attack less than halfway into the hilly route, specifically on the third of the day's four climbs, the Côte de la Savine. She managed to hold off Belgium's Lotte Kopecky, who finished 1 minute 24 seconds behind after dropping back in the closing stages.
This victory marked Haugset as the first rider from Norway to win a Tour de France stage and wear the yellow jersey. Reflecting on her win, Haugset said, "I haven't been thinking about it because I never thought it was possible. So standing here, it's unreal."
She added about her attack, "When I went, it wasn't many seconds and I thought she (Kopecky) would catch me. Then I thought I should just drop down to her ... Second is good. But I kept on. The team car was amazing, pushing me."
The main favorites for the overall victory, including reigning champion Pauline Ferrand-Prevot and Demi Vollering, finished together nearly three minutes behind Haugset. The race will continue with the overall winner expected to be decided on August 9th in Nice.
