Myanmar's military regime has permitted the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) to hold a private meeting with detained former Senior Counselor Aung San Suu Kyi in Naypyitaw. This marks the first known private visit with the twice-elected democratic leader since the military seized power in February 2021. The move comes just days before Myanmar President Min Aung Hlaing's scheduled visit to Thailand, representing the regime's most significant diplomatic concession since the takeover.

Arnaude de Baecque, Myanmar's resident representative and head of delegation for the ICRC, met with Aung San Suu Kyi during the visit. The development signals a rare opening by Myanmar's isolated government ahead of the regional diplomatic engagement.
