City officials in Bnei Brak, Israel, have established gender-segregated sidewalks near event halls and wedding venues. Signs and barriers have been installed to direct men and women to walk on opposite sides of the street. This initiative follows a directive from the city's ultra-Orthodox rabbis aiming to promote modesty and ensure wedding guests arrive already separated by sex.

However, city council member Yaki Vider has strongly criticized the plan. Vider argued that the municipality should prioritize addressing real issues such as fixing infrastructure, cleaning streets, improving transportation, and providing basic services. He expressed concern that the city is acting as a "modesty patrol" policing public behavior instead of focusing on these fundamental needs.
