Israeli forces killed at least five Palestinians in strikes across the Gaza Strip on Sunday, August 2nd, 2026, two days after the US unveiled a 15-point roadmap for Hamas disarmament and Israeli withdrawal.

Local officials reported that at least two people were killed and several wounded in a strike on a house in central Deir el-Balah, while three others died in a strike on an apartment in northern Gaza City. Separately, Israeli strikes destroyed a medical supply warehouse in central Gaza on Saturday, leaving a large crater.

The US initiative, published by President Donald Trump’s Board of Peace, aims to implement last year’s Gaza ceasefire agreement. Hamas has stated it will hand over its weapons for storage only after Israel halts military operations and withdraws its forces accordingly.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has not publicly commented on the plan. However, far-right National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir called the initiative unacceptable and insisted that Israel should continue targeting Hamas leaders.

Former senior Fatah official Mohammed Dahlan, based in the United Arab Emirates, said that Jared Kushner, Trump’s son-in-law and senior adviser on the US initiative, told him he was working with Israel to halt the attacks on Gaza.

These developments come amid ongoing tensions and despite diplomatic efforts to reduce violence in the region.
