Tens of thousands of migrants crossed from Morocco into the Spanish enclave of Ceuta over the past 24 hours, resulting in at least 19 deaths, Spanish authorities report. The migrants attempted to breach the border by sea and land, with many drowning and others killed in a stampede at Tarajal beach, near a border checkpoint with Morocco, according to Sbihi.

Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez stated that his government is mobilising all available resources in response to the situation. He further described the massive influx of migrants from Morocco as a "violation."

Interior Minister Laurent Nunez announced on social media that he had ordered an immediate increase in border controls on Thursday night. Meanwhile, France has indicated plans to tighten its borders with Spain amid the surge.

Reports from unnamed police sources and officials suggest that more than 40,000 people may have entered Ceuta during this period.

The events have heightened tensions between Spain and Morocco, with Sanchez's remarks highlighting the gravity of the situation.
