A Russian ballistic missile and drone barrage across Ukraine overnight on Thursday, July 30th, 2026, killed at least 10 civilians, including children. Ukraine's air force reported intercepting 55 missiles and 265 drones launched by Moscow but has faced difficulties intercepting the advanced ballistic missiles that Russia is increasingly deploying.
Patrick Bury, a former British Army captain and Senior Associate Professor in Warfare and Counter-terrorism at the University of Bath, told FRANCE 24's Sharon Gaffney that "the average interception rate of Russian missiles has dropped from probably around 90% back in March to 70-75%, sometimes below."
This decline in interception efficiency highlights the evolving threat posed by Russia's missile capabilities amid ongoing conflict.
