Residents in the northwestern Iranian city of Zanjan gathered on Friday, July 31st, 2026, for the funeral of three members of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) reportedly killed in a US strike. Iran’s IRGC stated that it targeted a US base in Kuwait in retaliation for US attacks on Iran that occurred on Thursday, July 30th, 2026.
Among the US strikes was an attack on a building on Qeshm Island, which resulted in the deaths of a couple and their two-year-old child. Iran has continued its attacks on Gulf states, describing them as retaliation for the US military actions.
The events mark an escalation in tensions between Iran and the US, with Iran’s IRGC openly claiming responsibility for the retaliatory strike on Kuwaiti soil.
