Hollywood stars Tom Holland and Zendaya attended the London premiere of their new film, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, on Wednesday evening, drawing large crowds eager to see the couple. The event took place in Leicester Square, London.
Holland, 30, reprises his role as Peter Parker and Spider-Man, while Zendaya plays his onscreen love interest, MJ. The pair, who recently married and also star in Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey, have portrayed these characters for ten years and expressed their enjoyment of the experience. Zendaya told BBC News, “I think when you’re best friends, it’s pretty easy,” when asked about working with her husband.
When discussing her outfits for the film's press tour, Zendaya credited her legendary stylist Law Roach, saying, “I love these films, I love making them, I love being able to extend the filmmaking process and the storytelling process through the press tour and the clothes and through fashion.”
Holland did not confirm if this would be his final appearance as Spider-Man, stating, “You're going to have to watch this movie and that might answer your question.” He also expressed enthusiasm about future collaborations within the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Critical reception has been positive, with The Independent’s Clarisse Loughrey calling it "the best Spider-Man movie in more than 20 years" and awarding it four stars. The Telegraph’s Robbie Collin also gave it four stars, praising the film for restoring the franchise's signature gawkiness. The Hollywood Reporter’s David Rooney noted the film “balances self-reflection with action,” though the Guardian’s Peter Bradshaw offered a more mixed review.
