The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) announced it struck dozens of Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) targets in Iran overnight on Wednesday, July 29th, 2026. The attacks targeted military command centers, missile and drone facilities, coastal surveillance and defense sites, and maritime capabilities, though specific locations were not disclosed.

These strikes followed a ballistic missile attack by the IRGC on a US base in Jordan earlier that day. US President Donald Trump stated at the White House that Iran would be “hit very hard” in response.

Explosions were reported in several locations in southern Iran after the US attacks. Iran’s semi-official Tasnim news agency reported three explosions on Qeshm island within the city, and two explosions in the port city of Bandar Abbas in Hormozgan province. Similar sounds were also heard on the islands of Abu Musa and Kish. The deputy governor of Hormozgan province told IRIB that a building in the Chah-Tango neighborhood of Qeshm city was “hit by enemy projectiles,” with search and rescue operations underway to save trapped individuals.

Jordan reported intercepting missiles shortly after the US strikes on Iranian sites including Qeshm and Bushehr.

On Thursday morning, July 30th, the IRGC pledged retaliation against the “aggressor,” with suspected Iranian strikes targeting Kuwait and Jordan. One worker was killed after a building belonging to a Chinese company was hit in Kuwait.

The situation remains tense as both sides engage in military actions and counteractions.
