The U.S. State Department announced on Thursday, July 30th, 2026, that it is expanding access to the commemorative “Patriot Passport” featuring President Donald Trump’s image. Originally unveiled in April ahead of the nation’s 250th birthday, the passport includes Trump’s inaugural portrait alongside the text of the Declaration of Independence and a painting of the founding fathers signing the document.

Due to overwhelming public interest, the department is making an additional 250,000 copies available. Previously, Americans could only obtain the passport at the department’s office in Washington, D.C., but now appointments can be scheduled by phone at 24 other passport offices nationwide. Application events will be held in locations including Centennial, Colorado; Chicago; Dallas; Detroit; Minneapolis; New Orleans; and Stamford, Connecticut throughout August.

The State Department stated, “Since its release in celebration of 250 years of American independence, the commemorative passport has generated extraordinary public interest. The Department of State is responding by expanding access so Americans across the country can obtain this unique and special document.”

This expansion is part of a broader trend under the Trump administration, which has added the president’s name and likeness to various buildings, initiatives, and items over the past 18 months. Additionally, the U.S. Mint plans to release a $1 gold coin featuring Trump’s portrait to honor the country’s semiquincentennial.
