Amnesty International has released a report revealing that India has supplied a significant volume of weapons, ammunition, and military components to Israel since October 7, 2023, the start of Israel's major offensive in Gaza. The Britain-based rights group analyzed 2,596 shipments from India to Israel, documenting the supply of at least 390,516 small arms parts, 564,970 parts of notable ordnance such as drone warheads and artillery shell casings, and 298 military vehicle components.

The report, titled The Supply of Weapons and Ammunition to Israel, states that India has developed a close and profitable partnership with the Israeli defense sector, becoming a key contributor to the supply chains supporting Israel's military operations. Amnesty International researchers carefully excluded shipments potentially destined for civilian use, focusing on exports categorized under internationally recognized Harmonised System codes (HS Code) 93+ and 8710+.

Earlier in 2026, Al Jazeera obtained 91 Indian customs export documents for arms-related shipments to Israel under classification code 93069000, which includes bombs and grenades, according to India's Ministry of Commerce and Industry.

The report also notes that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has frequently described Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as a “dear friend,” despite an arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court in late 2024 for Netanyahu over alleged war crimes during the Gaza conflict.

Amnesty International warns that India's continued arms sales to Israel carry a "substantial risk" of contributing to the ongoing violence and alleged genocide against Palestinians in Gaza, which the rights group says is broadcast worldwide on an almost daily basis.
